COORDINATOR OF THE WOMEN'S EMPOWERMENT PROJECT

 

SOS Children's Villages International is a global organization created in 1949 that works to meet the needs and protect the interests and rights of children who have lost parental care and those at risk of losing it. SOS Children's Villages International works through member associations in 135 countries around the world.

 

SOS Children's Villages in Guinea-Bissau is looking for one (1) professional with immediate availability to manage the project "Women's Empowerment in the Gabu Region" funded by SOS Germany, with a duration of three (3) years, aimed at promoting women's rights, supporting women's financial autonomy and reducing Gender-Based Violence.

 

POST SUMMARY:

Ensuring the general coordination of project and team activities, namely:

ensuring that actions are in line with the program's objectives; tracking progress results (monitoring indicators); developing monthly action plans; implementing the necessary corrective actions; drawing up reports; ensuring the correct execution of the budget and the team's good performance, among other things.

 

MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leading the implementation of project activities with partners in accordance with the objectives, actions and deadlines outlined in the annual plan and the joint action plan.
  • Empower all beneficiary families to become self-sufficient, based on a family development plan.
  • Support the capacity building of the program's implementing partners (these can be community-based organizations or structures, self-help groups, local NGOs or local authorities) to ensure the program's long-term sustainability.
  • Participate in government and/or community forums dealing with issues affecting children in our target group.
  • Build good relations with the local media (e.g. community radio), so that children's rights issues in general, as well as the organization's mission and objectives, can be promoted regularly.
  • Ensuring that the organization's financial resources are used sparingly and efficiently.
  • Ensure that all expenses / use of program resources are in accordance with the annual plan and budget.
  • Provide the line manager with regular updates on the program's activities and results, including regular reports
  • Document and share good practices and lessons learned with colleagues to support organizational learning.
  • Prepare program information as needed for public relations and fund development purposes.

 

REQUISITOS

  • Training or equivalent experience in administration and project management, or in another compatible area. Management experience (administration, finance and human resources).

Experience in monitoring and evaluating projects will be an added advantage.

  • Have a minimum of three (3) years' work experience in project management in the field of social services or community development.
  • Good command of Portuguese and English, with an aptitude for written and oral communication.
  • Ability to analyze and write, which allows you to identify problems and come up with possible solutions in the short and medium term.
  • Good knowledge of human rights approaches.
  • Awareness and understanding of social development issues, including gender, education, health, etc.
  • Computer proficiency (Word, Excel, Power Point and Internet) - user.
  • Be communicative and easy to get along with.
  • Immediate availability.
