POSTED: SOCIAL WORKER (TRAINEE)
SOS Children's Villages International is a global organization created in 1949 that works to meet the needs and protect the interests and rights of children who have lost parental care and those at risk of losing it. SOS Children's Villages International works through member associations in 135 countries around the world.
The National Directorate of SOS Children's Villages in Guinea-Bissau is looking for one (1) professional with immediate availability to fill the vacancy in the above post:
(1) Social Worker (Trainee) for the SOS Children's Village in Bissau
JOB SUMMARY |
Under the general supervision of the Alternative Care Coordinator, the Social Worker supports the development of the program in line with the organization's "Vision, Mission, Values", brand and approved strategies, policies and guidelines. The Social Worker is responsible for supporting children who are at risk of losing the care of their biological family. |
MAIN TASKS:
- Keeping up-to-date data on children, young people and families.
- Preparing the family and child development plan
- Guiding the caregiver to take care of the hygiene conditions of their family home and of their surroundings in general.
- Supporting the provision of services to children and families in strong partnership with other service providers and in line with the family development plan.
- Keep caregivers informed about health issues, especially those that affect families, such as family planning, vaccinations, HIV/AIDS, nutrition and hygiene.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED
- Degree or Diploma in Social Work, Development Studies, Education, Social Sciences.
- At least 1 year's experience of working with young people and children. Professional orientation skills and involvement in extracurricular activities, sports and games will be an advantage.
- A good understanding and knowledge of national social policies
- Good command of written and spoken Portuguese and a foreign language, preferably English or French.
- Computer literacy (Word, Excell, Power point, Acesso e Internet).
- Be communicative and easy to get along with.
- Immediate availability.
Skills
- Knowledge of children's rights, child protection and family care
- Good decision-making skills;
- Good writing skills
- Good time management skills.
